Q. I’m not a biker. May I drive my car to the event(s) at the Fairplex at Pomona?
A. Absolutely. Anyone attending any or all of the days at the Fairplex may drive or car (or ride a motorcycle for that matter). There will be ample parking on site for both modes of transportation.
Motorcycles will receive FREE parking each day of the event.
Q. What is the difference between the Love Ride and California Bike Week? And is it a concert or biker event?
A. California Bike Week is a three-day event that encompasses many forms of entertainment, music and activities that revolve around motorcycle lifestyles. The Love Ride is the featured event of the final day of California Bike Week that has a couple of different elements: an organized motorcycle ride from Harley-Davidson/Buell of Glendale (for the bikers) and a large concert at the Fairplex featuring the Foo Fighters, ZZ Top and The Tubes. Once again, anyone can attend the Love Ride concert at the Fairplex. Friday night has rockabilly music along with hot rods and tattoo artists; Saturday has rock and roll throughout the afternoon followed by Gene Romero’s West Coast Flat Track Racing Series that evening.
Q. Where will the concerts at the Fairplex take place?
A. Foo Fighters, ZZ Top and The Tubes will play on the infield of the racetrack on Sunday, 10/26. It is a large grass field that allows ample room for viewing. The music on Friday, 10/24 and Saturday, 10/25, will take place on a smaller stage in the vendor area right outside the racetrack.
Q. How do I get tickets for any of the days of California Bike Week and/or The Love Ride?
A. Tickets for the different days may be obtained in the following manner:
Friday: free at any Southern California Harley-Davidson dealership, OR through Ticketmaster, in advance, for $10 OR day of show for $15.
Saturday: $30 at any Southern California Harley-Davidson dealership OR through Ticketmaster.
Sunday: Love Ride Experience Tickets, which include the motorcycle ride from Glendale Harley-Davidson/Buell (or riding on your own but ending up at the Fairplex), the BBQ lunch, two drinks, a patch, a pin and a cookie are available through loveride.org or californiabikeweek.com, and cost $70 in advance and $75 day of show.
Love Ride Concert Tickets are for the concert only at available through Ticketmaster for $50.
Q. Are the Foo Fighters really playing at 12:30 pm and are they playing a full set?
A. Yes. This is a daytime concert. The Tubes will play first at 11:15 am, followed by the Foo Fighters at 12:30 pm and play for roughly an hour and fifteen minutes; ZZ Top will close the show at 2:15 pm. They will finish around 3:45 pm.
Q. What’s This About Hod Rods On Friday Night?
A. Well, most of us are gear heads and we like machinery…we decided that it being So Cal and having Rock-A-Billy music and Tattoo Vendors, we should include that missing part of the equation:
Hot Rods, got a bad ass car, got a bad ass car in the making, got something completely unique and four wheeled…then bring it through Fairplex gate 17 between 3-4:00PM on Friday, Oct 24th and if we agree with you…we’ll roll the car into our event and stage it in a safe and rockin’ place for the night or the weekend (It’s up to you) Chosen cars can come and go (so long as they get in half an hour before gates open on Sat & Sun, and depart after 5:00PM Sat and Sun) You and a guest will also be given admission to all three days (a $300 value) if
your car is chosen to be one of the 100 “insiders”
Not chosen…we’ll still have a VIP Hot Rod Parking Area close to the main entrance on the Friday night and we’ll give you free admission into the Friday event.
Please note: You will be required to pay for Fairplex parking on the Friday…Chosen “Insider” cars will park free on Saturday & Sunday, by way of parking passes you will receive once admitted.
Q. What is Flat Track Racing?
A. Simply the most exciting form of motorcycle racing on earth. An American phenomena for nearly 100 years, staged on purpose built and horse racing oval dirt tracks, in all four corners of the US. What was once the center of our “One Any Sunday” culture…the sport downsized in the nineties and just about left California completely. It’s BACK and BETTER than ever, racing legend, Gene Romaro brought Flat Track back to The So Cal Mecca of oval dirt track racing, the Fairplex at Pomona for California Bike Week 2007. Over the past twelve months there has been a complete resurrection of the sport, as seen a few Saturday nights ago in Indianapolis on the eve of the First Ever US MotoGP at the storied Speedway. The Indiana Fairgrounds one Mile oval sold out well in advance and attracted a huge Flat Track crowd from around the world.
Don’t miss the action, 140 miles an hour, no brakes, riding the cushion, steel boot dragging in the turns, riders leaning on each other at speed, spectacular mishaps, photo finishes. Saturday Evening, 5:00PM, at The Fairplex.
Q: Tattoos?
A: Yep, top artists will be set up for the three days of California Bike Week and The Love Ride. They’re will be miles of inked flesh already…why not start or add to yours.
Q: Do I have to wear a helmet in California?
A: Yep, CA state law, DOT Helmets required.
Q: Can we park a motor-home & how much is parking for it for the day?
A: Yep, motor-home day parking is available for The Love Ride & CBW. Prices are $20 for normal motor-home parking and $30 for preferred parking.
Q: Are young children free?
A: Yep, all children under 5 are free!
Q: Can we park & enter from the NHRA Museum or any other gate at the Fairplex besides Gate 17?
A: Sorry but no, entrance to the event (as dictated by the Fairplex) is through Gate 17 Only. But there’s plenty of parking and entrance is a breeze!
